Everything you need to know about Agni Atlas and Ayurveda

Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old health system from India — one of the oldest in the world. It is based on the understanding that every person has a unique constitution (called prakriti) that determines how their body and mind function. Rather than prescribing a one-size-fits-all approach to health, Ayurveda gives you a personalised map of how your body works — and what it needs to thrive. Think of it as the original personalised medicine.

In Ayurveda, the body is governed by three fundamental energies called doshas: Vata (air and space — movement and creativity), Pitta (fire and water — digestion and transformation), and Kapha (earth and water — structure and stability). Every person is born with a unique blend of all three, with one or two typically dominant. Your dosha blend is called your prakriti — your natural constitution. Understanding your prakriti is the foundation of Ayurvedic health guidance.

Absolutely — Agni Atlas was specifically designed for people who are new to Ayurveda. You don't need any prior knowledge. The quiz uses plain language, explains any technical terms, and the report is written for someone encountering these concepts for the first time. If you're curious about why your body works the way it does — your digestion, your energy, your sleep, your stress response — this assessment will give you genuinely useful answers.

Most dosha quizzes ask 10–15 surface-level questions and give you a generic result. Agni Atlas covers eight diagnostic dimensions across 40–50 questions, using a weighted scoring system that prioritises the deeper constitutional markers (digestion, stress response, sleep, dreams) over physical appearance. The report is generated by AI trained on classical Ayurvedic texts and produces guidance that is specific to your answers — not a templated response for your dosha type. Many users tell us it's the first time an Ayurvedic assessment has felt genuinely personal.

Yes — this is one of the things we care most about. Every hard-to-find ingredient in your report comes with a practical Western alternative that you can find in a regular supermarket. Mung beans → red lentils. Ghee → good quality butter. Triphala → available at Holland & Barrett or online. We understand that Ayurvedic ingredients can feel inaccessible, and we've worked hard to make every recommendation usable wherever you live.

No. Agni Atlas is an educational tool that provides information based on Ayurvedic principles. It is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, breastfeeding, or are taking medication, please consult a qualified healthcare professional before making significant changes to your diet or supplement regimen. Always consult a doctor for medical concerns.

It is the most thorough self-assessment tool available outside a clinical consultation. It uses a weighted scoring system based on classical Ayurvedic diagnostic methodology, covering eight dimensions of constitution. The AI report is generated specifically from your answers — not from a template. That said, it is a self-assessment tool, not a clinical diagnosis. A trained Ayurvedic physician with years of experience will always offer deeper insight. We recommend using your Agni Atlas report as a starting point for understanding your constitution, not a definitive medical verdict.

Your prakriti — your natural, birth constitution — does not change. It is fixed. However, your current state of balance (called vikriti in Ayurveda) does change — with seasons, age, stress, diet, and lifestyle. If you retake the assessment at a different point in your life and get a different result, it may reflect a current imbalance rather than a change in your underlying constitution. This is why Agni Atlas allows you to save and compare multiple assessments over time.

Because we believe personalised health knowledge should be accessible to everyone. A consultation with a trained Ayurvedic physician costs hundreds of pounds or euros — most people will never have access to that. We wanted to change that. The core assessment, report, shopping list, and ingredient alternatives are all free. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but the fundamental assessment will always be free.

The Quick Atlas is a shorter version of the assessment — around 13 questions covering the most important constitutional markers. It takes 3–4 minutes and gives you a solid constitutional read with a concise report. The Deep Atlas is the full assessment — 40–50 questions across eight sections. It takes 8–15 minutes and produces a comprehensive report including complete food lists, spices and herbs with dosing, daily meal timing, seasonal guidance, health risk warnings, and sport and recovery guidance. Both are free.

No — you can complete the full assessment and read your report without creating an account. Creating a free account gives you additional benefits: your report is saved and accessible from any device, you can download a PDF version, access your personalised shopping list, see ingredient alternatives, and compare your constitution with other Agni Atlas users. It takes 30 seconds to sign up and is completely free.

Yes. We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers. Your quiz answers are used solely to generate your report. We use Supabase for secure data storage and do not store any personally identifiable information beyond your email address and your assessment results. Yes — from your results page or dashboard you can share your constitution type on WhatsApp, Twitter/X, or copy a shareable text. On mobile, the native share sheet gives you access to any app on your phone. You can also download your report as a PDF to share directly.

Constitution assessment is nuanced and self-reporting has limitations. If your result doesn't feel right, consider: did you answer based on your natural tendencies (how you've been most of your life) or based on how you've been feeling recently? Current stress, illness, or lifestyle can temporarily shift your patterns. You can retake the assessment and use the “+ Add detail” field on each question to add nuance. If you still feel the result is wrong, the dosha pages (/pitta, /vata, /kapha) describe each constitution in depth — you may recognise yourself there.

Start with the three dosha pages on Agni Atlas — they give a thorough introduction to each constitution. Beyond that, some excellent accessible books include 'Prakriti' by Robert Svoboda, 'The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies' by Vasant Lad, and 'Eat Taste Heal' by Thomas Yarema. For a more clinical deep-dive, the Charaka Samhita (available in translation) is the foundational classical text.
